The importance of a schedule for you and your baby.
Keeping the baby on a schedule is important when you have a busy life. Then you can work around the baby's schedule, and the baby will be content with knowing it will be fed and changed and will know then when to nap. A baby thrives on the attention you give him or her, but they also need independent floor time to learn to explore and strengthen their little bodies.
Do you have questions that you need help with? I can only answer from my experience, but I will try to answer everything you send. I am not a Doctor, but have had many children under my care, that I have loved and seen grow......... :-)

  1. How strict should the schedule be. Should we aim to have the same schedule every day, or can we be lax on weekends?

  2. Well, if the schedule is too lax on the weekend, it is hard to get back into the schedule for the busy week, especially if both the parents work and they have to get and go early. I do suggest that a schedule be kept with a hour grace before or later. It helps the baby know that they won't be hungry and you can also count on the nap time for downtime for yourself...good luck and just enjoy everyday to the fullest! Thanks for the question!

  4. Thanks for the question!
Please know that for all involved it can be a very unhappy time.
Please know that first rinsing the wipes under warm water can help.
Then letting it dry first before applying the barrier is important.
I have used Vaseline, Aquaphor, and Corn Starch. I have a girlfriend that used the solid mass of Crisco Shortening, that comes in different sized tubs. She swears by it!
Keeping a layer of any of the above products will help, but also know you should change the diaper every hour until the rash is under control. Soaking in a bath of warm water with Baking Soda will help also
Good luck and looking forward to hearing it went well!
